Shots today... yuck!

Today was not the best day for my boys. The baby got his second set of shots, which was horrible watching him screem (thank heavens Daddy came with me this time). Then we rushed across town so Daddy could get a root canal. This picture was taken after we left the dentist office. I think it's sweet, but you can tell neither is feeling his best. :(

I can't seem to find to find a template I like... or better yet suits me. So, I will do what I do best... keep trying them out until I find one that sticks and I can't live without.

Now more importantly a Buddy update. My little bud has had better days. He has had a slight temperature on and off again and the teething is proving to get the better of him today. We are going to see the doctor tomorrow morning just to make sure everything is okay. I had a lengthy conversation with the nurse today and we both decided that it is probably due to teething, but seeing how he's a preemie we would both feel better if the doctor had a look at him.

The one up side is I got some fantastic shots of him sleeping this afternoon. I had to share a few! I think they are just beautiful! The lighting in the bedroom was so beautiful... he looks so peaceful you couldn't even tell he wasn't feeling well. He's such an angel... my wonderful angelic baby! Oh... I LOVE HIM SO!

It's been an eventful weekend! It was Smoochie's birthday and we had the pleasure of sharing it with Yvo. It was fantastic to have her around, and it was good for our little man... he got to spend some quality time with his Godmama. We explored Madison and did some shopping. Then we got in the car and drove to Chicago. We explored Chicago and did some shopping. Noticing a trend here? Yvo... you should come and visit more often. We miss you already!

Then... the good old days of coming home and watching Scrubs.

I know it's been a few days since I posted. You see, Smooch was out of town last week and since he's been home we've been catching up. So, I figured all would be forgotten with some good old snugly baby & Daddy pictures. I just love them (the pictures and my boys)! I love the fact that even though my hubby is studying for his boards all the time he still makes sure his gets a little one on one with his son. Who knows... maybe the baby will absorb some of it and we'll have a future surgeon on our hands just like Daddy! Most importantly though is that the snuggling is absorbed and from what I can tell it definitely is. :)

I'm having a Mommy-high

Thanks ladies for the teething tips... we will try them all. Today little man is much better... and much sleepier due to a long night yesterday evening. We survived though. Is each tooth this painful? Thank goodness they don't remember any of this. I must say that the baby is really doing quite well with it, he amazes me with how tough he is. He really could be much fussier and I wouldn't blame him. As I was saying last night, the hardest part is knowing that he's in pain. I would give anything to take the pain away, I'd take the pain for him without thinking twice about it if I could.

How is it that you fall deeper and deeper in love with your child everyday? I swear the day I gave birth to him I remember the intense feelings that rushed through my body and thinking to myself how could I ever love anyone more. I love him more and more each and every moment I'm with him and double the moments I'm not with him. How lucky our we (smooch and I and every parent out there) to have the opportunity to raise these innocent and beautiful little babies? It makes me want to have 10 more! I know, crazy... right?

Soak up you babies and kids while you can, before they grow up and have babies of their own. Just enjoy each and every moment, even the tough ones, because you will look back and simply smile at them all. That's what I'm doing right now... I'm going to go sing my little one to sleep in my arms, we both need some snuggling. Sweet dreams all!

Teething!!!

I know the baby looks happy here... it's after bath time so that doesn't count! He's teething and he's sooooo little! All the soothers I have for him are too big, my finger only makes him happy for a little while... it's breaking my heart watching him in pain!!!! Any suggestions for a 3 months old? I've thought of giving him baby Tylenol, but teething can take a long time. So that really isn't going to work or is it? ANYONE???

We had a great time! What a beautiful zoo. Absolutely amazed at how close you get to the animals there! Next time we'll have to bring Daddy to protect us from all those grizzly bears! I must say though that I had a first today... I saw polar bears getting busy! Couldn't believe my eyes... maybe my beautiful baby boy inspired them to make one of their own. ;)

Teething... ouch!

Agoo!! Agaa!!!

These are my boys two favorite things to mumble right now. When he's happy or when he's sad it's always agoo or agaa... the one that pulls on your heart strings is when he's really upset, long drawn out, "Agoooooooooh". That is what I've been getting all day as my little man is already teething! He's a preemie so he's actually more like 7 weeks and already a tooth! Yup, that is right... that little tooth has broke through. It's just peaking out right now so I anticipate the next few days to be tons of fun. This mommy job is the hardest job I've ever signed up for, but the one I LOVE the most. I wouldn't trade it for the world. It's just so hard to see your little baby in pain.

Sorry to cut this one short, but I've got to try and get to sleep as little man had finally dozed off. Sweet dreams to all!

Baby smoochie and I have had a very eventful weekend. It all started Friday with lunch date with Lisa. It was so nice to chat with another girl. Don't get me wrong I love my boy's to death but a girl needs a break from all the testosterone once in a while. Then Saturday Smooch calls me from work and says, "how would you like a night off from cooking"? Sounds fantastic here! So we packed the kiddo up and went over to one of the attending physicians house for dinner. It was great to meet some of my husbands co-workers and get to know them a little bit. We had such nice evening, the food was fantastic! Their son was home from college and he had prepared dinner, look out Emeril Legasse. Everything was wonderful, the company, the ambiance and the grilled peaches with ice cream covered with a blanket raspberries for dessert. What a nice group of people. I tell you if this is a taste of what it's like in the midwest, I'm not moving! Sorry Mom and Dad...

Then today we decided to check out a local Church. It was a very nice mass. I'm still amazed at how young everyone is here. I think after living in Florida for my entire life, I've been so used to alway feeling sooo young. Here I feel like I fit in a bit more. The church was filled with so many parents and their children. It was definitley a sight for sore eyes.

The one thing I can say is I'm definitely over this heat wave! I swear the Florida heat followed me here...aghhhh! You know, if that is my only complaint than I've got it pretty good. I hope everyone else had a nice weekend as well. Cheers from the midwest!

14 weeks and counting

Look Daddy! I want to play soccer just like you!

The family is getting settled, but yet I'm still finding boxes here and there that need to be unpacked. Where the heck do I put all this stuff? Do we really need all this stuff? More importantly does the baby really need 20 different teddy bears, stuffed hippos, elephants and mice? The child has more stuffed animals at 14 weeks than I've had my whole life. I don't know how this happened as I have not bought him one.... so to the family and friends out there, please no more stuffed animals. Don't get me wrong, we appreciate the gifts but we have no more room. At least wait until we can afford a larger place and we can devote an entire room for toys. Until then just shower the kid with love.

I'm a little sad today as I went through his clothes and packed up about 30 outfits that he is already too big for. I can't believe it... what happened to my 4 lb 4 oz baby that was swimming in all these clothes? Gone are the days where I couldn't find something small enough for him. Yes, that's right... small enough for him. He was so itty bitty when he came home from the hospital. Now he's over 12 lbs! I can't believe it! One of the up sides to his growing up is that he now fits into the little soccer and addidas outfits that my husband has been dying to see him in. I'll take a picture of him in it next time so all can see how cute he is!

Anyhow, I'm going to go back to try to find a place to put all this stuff. To the family... I miss you guys! I hope this blog helps ease the pain of not being able to see the baby on a regular basis.

So, this was not such a great day... but I can't not mention it. Yvo took my kiddo and me to the airport and it was so sad. I'm really going to miss her. She's the kind of friend some people search their whole lives for. She has always been there for me and I know that she would give the shirt off her back for me or my son ( her god baby). I truly believe that it's not just me that she's like this with. Yvo has the great ability to love people so whole hearted, it's quite special. We had some great times back in the days. I'm sure there will be many more to come. It's hard though knowing that our time these next two years is limited due to the fact that there is about 1200 miles between us. It just shows you that you need to make the best out of the moments you have... ALWAYS. So we said our tearful good-bye and my son and I got on the plane to start a new life in Madison.

The plane ride went well, the baby was great. I couldn't believe it. I was ready for the worst, but as always my kid was such a good boy. I'm really blessed with a very easy first baby. Don't get me wrong though, my husband and I have had our share of excitement with him arriving 7 weeks early and a 17 day stay in the NICU. So it hasn't all been smooth sailing, your just thankful for what you can get though. At least we are.

The baby's doing great. He's smiling ALL the time now, which is so much fun. He's also starting to drool which makes me wonder if I'm going to have a early teether on my hands. Smoochie and I checked out his gums last night, but we didn't see the signs of any teeth. Hmmm, we'll just have to wait and see I guess.

Happy Sunday

It's our first Sunday in Madison. Our little man is adjusting nicely, we went out for a stroll through the neighborhood. It's about 75 out and beautiful. On our way back we stopped at the store and picked up some fresh corn. I can't remember the last time I had such tasty corn. It was wonderful! So far I can't complain one bit about this city.

We are getting the last of our things unpacked and situated. It's slowly starting to feel like home. We hung up our pictures today and reorganized a bit. It's all coming together nicely.

On a much more interesting note the baby is saying agoo and aga all the time now. He's growing up so fast, developing a fascinating little personality. He's definitely a morning baby as he wakes up with a big gummy grin everyday. It's quite the sight. He also loves his baths (which he always has). He's moving up now and I let him splash around in the tub with me. He's going to be a great swimmer, all the instincts are there already.

So, we've made the journey to the great white north. I must say it is absolutely beautiful here... everyone keeps saying, "ohh, just wait". It's like they think the little Florida girl can't handle it or something. I'm up for the challenge. I'm looking forward to having 4 seasons, to my son enjoying a white Christmas and making snow angels.

It's been one heck of a week though. This time last week we were at my husband's graduation dinner after a very long day of loading up the moving truck. What an experience having both my parents and my husbands parents help us move. In the end all is well... but there were a few speed bumps. To all that helped I want to thank you again, we do appreciate it.

So here we are 1 week later, I'm on the computer and my hubby is studying like a good boy for his boards. I can't wait until they are over, until then ( August 9th) I will share him with his books. I must say it's so quiet now that all the parents have left. Reality is sinking in how far away we are from everyone now. I can no longer just jump in the car and go over to my Dad's to hang out and eat dinner. I'm no longer just an afternoon drive away from visiting my Mom and Grandma. Thank heaven's for computer's in time's like this, huh?

I will miss my family very much though. I love them all to pieces... :) In memory of Jackonville is a picture of the family before we left. (Still some baby pounds to shed)

Madison here we come!

Well... it's been forever and a day since I've posted. Blog world look out here I come! I'm excited to get into this as it will be the only way my family is going to be able to see my son grow the next two years... possibly even longer. Who knows where Smoochie and I will land after the two year fellowhip at UW is over. All we know is that it really doesn't matter too much as long as we are all together.
As I sit writing this blog my husband is on the road with his parents and my Dad and step-mother. They should be somewhere in Kentucky or Illinois at the moment. It was quite a sight watching the line of cars pull out this morning. The first in line was my husband in the monster Penske truck, next his father in our GTI, then Nancy and my mother in-law following in their SUV and last but not least my Dad driving our mini cooper. What a sight in deed! It was a rush of emotions... partly sad too see them leave without me and the baby, also sad for the obvious reason... moving out of Florida and leaving my family behind. Then I felt this rush of excitement for what lies ahead of us. We have a 12 week old son, my husband is starting a new job, we're new parents and as if that wasn't enough we're newlyweds. We have a fresh start ahead of us, we have our health, we're in love with each other... with our son... and with life. So, tomorrow my son and myself will get on a plane and meet up with my husband to make a new home in Madison, WI.
Somebody pince me please! I'm going to be a cheesehead!

I would also like to make a special thanks to our parents for helping us with this tremedous move. I know it doesn't always seem like it, but we do appreciate all of you!

We're having a baby!!!

It's official, I'm 5 months pregnant. It's all so overwhelming, exciting, scary and wonderful!! We are very happy about this, it was not a planned thing. That is very appropriate for me as I can't recall the last time I "planned something" and it went as it was supposed to. I'm very much fly by the seat of my pants. And now instead of my happy little life with my boyfriend and dog, it's even happier life boyfriend, baby and dog! I'm getting so excited now that I actually look pregnant and not just like I have a beer belly. I have felt the first kick from my little soccer player in training, it's so amazing! AMAZING I tell you. I go next week for the ultrasound where we could find out the sex of the baby. The reason I say could is that we are going to wait and let the little bundle suprise us. After all, everything has been a surprise so far (wonderful at that I might add) I think it's best to keep with the tradition.

I know it's been a long time since I started my blog and even longer since I've posted. I'm very sorry for that. I feel I need to explain. It's tough for me to find time at the end of the day to sit down and write something. You see... I work in front of a computer ALL day and so most of the time the last thing I want to do is look at a computer screen when I come home. Plus, my stupid work has this sight blocked so I can't post from work. Only option is end of the day or the weekend. No more excuses, I'm going to be much better from now on. (Crossed fingers)

It's the east coast smoochie's!!!

So, things are going smooth here in J-ville. We had a laid back weekend. It was absolutely wonderful! We went and took our little Chihuahua, Chloe, to the beach on Saturday and you couldn't have asked for a nicer day. I must admit part of the reason for taking the puppy to the beach was so she wouldn't wake us up twice in the middle of the night to go pee like she did the night before. It worked, it always does.

Sunday we woke up and went to Smoochie's soccer game. I have to brag a little... Smoochie scored a goal!!! (Personally I would like to take some credit as that wasn't the first time Smoochie scored that day) sorry Mom and Dad. But, wow I was so happy for him! He was so handsome as he scored the goal, I was grinning ear to ear for him. Let me tell everyone out there... I sure am lucky! I hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend too.
