This Sunday we went for a bike ride to the zoo
It has become a ritual that we bring a big bag of corn and feed the ducks and geese.
However, this was the first time Naomi was big enough to help.

Did she ever enjoy it!

Naomi also taught us something... she reached out and pet the ducks. I couldn't believe it, pet the ducks? Hmmm, they actually let her pet them. I couldn't believe we had never tried it before. They were so soft and what a cool experience for the kids.
(followed by a thorough hand washing)

As usual, with our family nothing is ever that simple. Naomi got a little brave and decided she was going to grab a duck by the wing! This girl is crazy. The duck started flapping it wings like crazy, trying desperately to get away from this pint sized human. Lucky for the duck she let go and it quickly retreated to its fellow ducks. Unlucky for Naomi, the next duck she tried to "pet" wasn't so willing and gave her a quick nip to let her know that that was NOT going to happen twice... no skin was broke and she was fine as soon as I scooped her up in my arms. Never a dull moment!
At that point there is no place better than in the safety of Daddy's arms.
Most likely pondering if she'll pet the ducks again. I vote yes, she will try again.
No ducks were harmed in the making of this blog.

Bunnies!
How do I pet them?
Mikey was curious as to what they eat and then tried offer them anything he could find. He was very excited that the bunny anxiously hurried over when he offer a long piece of grass but once the bunny tasted it he wanted nothing to do with it. Bummer.
Mikey's favorite thinking spot.
The first time we came to the zoo Mikey found this rock, he was just a little over 2 yrs old. Now, every single time we go to the zoo he runs over to "his rock" and sits here and plays for a few minutes. No trip to the zoo is complete without a visit to "his rock".
Elk, poor guy has only half his antler.

Daddy trying to get this snapping turtle to make good on his name... no luck.
Afternoon play time!
Swinging, always a fun activity for a few minutes. It's rare that these kids want to swing longer than a couple minutes. Yet, they must swing at least a little bit or they aren't happy.

behind the wheel again!
